CFIN Launches Online Training

Arrangements have been concluded for the initial launch of the Computer Forensic Institute Nigeria (CFIN) online training on May 1, 2009, Nigeria Communications Week can now reveal.
The online training programme is an action point of the communiqué issued at the end of the first booth camp of the association held in Lagos from March 2-6, 2009 as disclosed by Dr. Peter Olu Olayiwola, president and chairman of the Certification Board of CFIN.
During the training programme, participants from government agencies and corporate organizations expressed their fears that their employers might not release them for the residential boot camp training and therefore implored CFIN to give them the flexibility of study allowed by online training. Using online platform, they can study on their own, at their own pace and at any time of the day. 
Online training will also reduce cost of training as students would no longer pay for hotel bills, flight and other incidentals that go with training.  They can complete registration and training processes without leaving their offices even as the arrangement makes it possible for an instructor to be attached to each student whom he can always reach on phone any time of the day. Because the lectures this time are not crammed, students have more time to understand things better and they can make use of the CFIN e-library relating to their various subjects and level of study via the body’s website:  www.cfinonline.org.
One of the aims of CFIN is to conduct research and development into new and emerging technologies and methods in the science of digital and computer forensics. It is also to assist the federal, state and local governments of Nigeria and the private sector in the prevention and detection of digital and computer fraud.
