Chams Excites Pension Fund Sector with “I’m Alive” Verification Apps

The mobile app, according to Mr. Gavin Young, group managing director, Chams Plc, was designed to solve many identity verification challenges faced by government agencies, private and government pensioners and pension administrators nationwide.

Mr. Young, speaking about the state-of-the-art application said: “Most private and government pensioners are required to verify themselves periodically so as to qualify for the next batch of monthly pension payments.

“Many pensioners travel long distances from their villages and rural locations, over multiple days and often at great expense, in order to verify themselves at local Government offices or their nearest bank branches, which can be some distance away. This is no longer necessary with the new Chams “I’m Alive “pensioner mobile app.”

He explained that Chams Plc came about the innovation in its quest to solve the challenges which both pensioners and pension fund administrators are faced with in the current verification process that is not convenient to both stakeholders as government and private pensioners are faced with the huge challenges of having to travel long distances from their villages and rural locations, often at great expense, discomfort and hardship to verify themselves, even when some of them are indisposed to physically attend the verification location and lots more.

He emphasised that the innovation is cost saving as it prevents payment of pension to the deceased pensioners will help in reducing government overhead.

He also explained that “Pension offices will be able to reduce physical infrastructure like chairs, tables, canopy to cater for pensioners’ verification, which support central verification and the need for pensioners to travel to particular locations to be verified.”
