Charles Ogunmola Becomes Afri-Pay’s New CEO

Afri-Pay Limited, leading mobile money operator, has announced the appointment of Mr. Charles Ogunmola as its new managing director and chief executive officer.

Prior to his new role at Afri-Pay Limited, Mr. Ogunmola was the chief technology officer of IEI Investments Limited, a special purpose vehicle setup for the takeover and re-launch of Societe Generale Bank Nigeria Ltd.

 However, before then, he was the group director, E-banking Services at UBA Plc and prior to this role he was also the chief technology officer overseeing UBA’s Group IT function and the crucial merger of Core Banking Systems in the post-consolidation era.

A statement by Oluwakemi Fashina, head, marketing and service delivery, Afri-Pay Ltd said Mr. Ogunmola, who studied History & International Relations as a 1st Degree but earned various Postgraduate Qualifications in Technology, Management & Strategy, comes to Afri-Pay Limited with an extensive background in Telecommunications and Technology spanning 21 years.

From the early beginnings in 1989 with British Telecom as a Commercial Officer & Manager and thereafter working in various other Organizations including AT&T Europe, First Telecom, Level 3 Communications on the development, administration and management of Key Operational Support Systems across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. He returned to Nigeria in 2004 to lead the Business Support Systems Team for the start up of GLOBACOM after which he worked as Chief Technology Officer building Nigeria’s largest VSAT Network (1200 Node), a “State of Art” Data Centre and 35-seat Call Centre for the Nigerian National Lottery.
