Chika Ekeji Unpacks MTN Ambition 2025

Chika Ekeji, Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer of MTN Group, has reiterated the company’s commitment to become the largest, most valuable business platform in the African continent through it ‘Ambition 2025’ strategy.

He disclosed this recently when members of MTN Media Innovation Programme (MTN-MIP Fellows) visited the group as part of their study-trip to University of Witswatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Ekeji who represented Ralph Mupita, President & CEO of MTN Group, stated that the group’s commitment is being fueled by the believe that “everybody in the continent of Africa deserves the benefits of a modern, connected life.”

It would be recalled that in 2020 MTN announced a new repositioning strategy that will accelerate growth and unlock the value of its infrastructure assets and platforms in the continent.

While providing more insights on the company’s Ambition 2025 plan, Ekeji said that the Company’s strategy is anchored in building the largest and most valuable platform business with a clear focus on Africa.

According to him, “We’ve the belief that everybody on the continent deserves the benefits of a modern connected life. Not just for those who can or can’t afford it but for everybody across the African continent.

“We believe that we should play a role in boosting inclusive economic growth on the continent.

“We want to build the largest and most valuable platforms through partnerships to accelerate inclusive growth by 2025.

“Also, our strategic priorities are to create shared value by driving broad-based ownership and inclusion across markets.”

He further disclosed that the telco has modernized its technologies so as to create the enabling environment for partnerships through its API platforms.

Through Ambition 2025, MTN aims to drive efficiencies and performance while reducing network complexity in order to better manage network operations and deliver digital services to meet the evolving demands of customers.

Some of the next-generation services that MTN is delivering include network as a service (NaaS), fintech solutions, Enterprise services, Digital services and CHENOSIS (an API marketplace).
