HiiT, a leading Information Technology (IT) Training/Education Institute, has been accredited by Computer Professionals’ Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) as one of the seven pioneer Study/Training Centres, at the IT Professionals' Assembly held at Nicon Luxury, Abuja, last week.
The event was an assemblage of major stakeholders in IT in Nigeria at which the President/Chairman in Council of CPN, Professor (Mrs.) Adenike Osofisan stated that "IT training in Nigeria, particularly in the non-formal sub-sector, has been an all-comers’ affair, devoid of coherent framework regarding the scope, content and quality’’. As a result, she said there is a proliferation of computer training outfits in nooks and crannies of Nigeria, offering all sorts of certificates and programmes based on curricula that are undefined in philosophy, objectives and content for relevant skill acquisition. Justifying the need to certify all IT practitioners in Nigeria, she said there was a compelling need to design a specific framework for the restructuring and regulation of the formal and non-formal institutions of Information Technology in Nigeria in order to ensure global standards.
In the same vein, Dr. Igwe Aja-Nwachukwu , minister of education, , lauded the role of CPN in setting standards for IT practitioners in Nigeria. He reiterated the commitment of Federal Government towards providing enabling environment and infrastructure needed for effective IT education at all levels. He announced that Federal Government had incorporated computer education into the school curricular and made computer education compulsory in all schools.
Mr. Kayode Shobajo, Chief Technopreneur, HiiT, in a boisterous and elated mood described the licensing of HiiT as pioneer CPN Accredited Study/Training Centre as stamp of approval on a brand that is rendering world class, affordable IT training in Nigeria. According to him "The issuance of the license to HiiT attested to our capability, information technology know-how to provide excellent IT training in a conducive atmosphere for the empowerment of our students"
Shobajo said that HiiT was poised by the singular repose of confidence of the regulatory authority to deliver on its corporate mission to eradicate IT illiteracy in Nigeria.
