Computer Professionals and Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) has approved the design of a new CPN Certificate with security features in order to reduce the incidence of fraudulent practice of presenting fake CPN certificates by some unregistered members of the profession.
Also, it is part of the Council ongoing effort to checkmate quackery in the profession and enhance the integrity of the Council.
The availability of inexpensive scanning and printing technology has contributed to an increasing incidence of identity fraud worldwide.
Thus, the recognition and reliance placed on the CPN certificates by Government at various levels as well as members of the profession and the rising profile of the Council in the country has made it mandatory for the Council to re-strategise and ensure that certificates issued to members of the profession are secure and tamper-proof.
According to Amoo Taofeek Akanni, head, Media and Corporate Communication, CPNin a statement, a number of security features will be incorporated into the design of the new and enhanced membership certificate to ensure its authenticity as well as the integrity of the Council.
The new certificates will contain modern security features like Micro text, Hologram, CBS1 watermark paper and a complicated background design.
It will also contain ink security features like Thermo chromic inks which are sensitive to temperature changes and will disappear when heat from breath or finger is applied and will reappear once cooled, Invisible UV Fluorescent Ink, which may only be seen under a UV lamp and is not visible under normal light.
It will also contain other ink features like Solvent sensitive ink and penetrating/indelible ink numbering.
