Critical Rescue International (CRI), a renowned emergency Medicaid and private emergency service provider in Nigeria, has partnered with MTN on the provision of medical emergency support to the telco’s subscribers.
Now, MTN subscribers within Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt can quickly get assistance – including ambulance evacuation where necessary – by dialing the dedicated CRI emergency short code – 933; in cases of emergency. This is tagged the emergency assist/evacuation service.
The second service is the medical advisory service, which enables MTN subscribers to access expert advice on medical and other health related issues such as first aid advice, hospital directory services, emotional counseling for rape, HIV/Aids, suicide; by dialing 191.
According to Bola Akingbade, chief marketing officer, MTN Nigeria, at the official launch of the initiative in Lagos last week, MTN Care was borne out of the company’s desire to support the efforts of progressive organizations such as CRI and the Lagos state government, which sought to guarantee a positive rhythm of life for people of the country.
“The uniqueness of MTN Care is not just in the facilitation of emergency evacuation in cases of life-threatening exigencies, but in the existence of a dedicated medical call centre that is manned by seasoned professionals, to provide medical information, counseling and advisory services on demand. For this reason, we make bold to say that MTN Care is your link to emergency healthcare delivery experts.”
In standing up to the task, CRI has invested in tools and resources such as ambulances and first aid medical personnel which it hopes would facilitate the success of the initiative with MTN.
