CWG MSME Initiatives Gather Momentum

Following CWG’s participation in the SME Summit, a side event of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa where her cloud based business model: SMERP and Webshop were demonstrated live to the numerous SMEs owners, CWG Plc has continued to engage with partners and stakeholders working to improve the business of the 17.7 million MSMEs in Nigeria.

As pointed out by Austin Okere, CEO, CWG Plc and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Columbia Business School—New York, enabling existing MSMEs to even employ one more person in a year creates millions of jobs and grows the economy much more than any gigantic investment would.

This vision meshes very well with the mission of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency Of Nigeria (SMEDAN) whose Director General Alhaji Bature welcomed Mr. Okere and his team to SMEDAN recently.

The SMEDAN DG recounted the key role that SMEDAN is playing in midwifing the various programmes that the Federal Government and her agencies are directing at the SME sector.

These programmes include the National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP), YouWin and others which have placed on SMEDAN the responsibility of guiding, training, mentoring and generally helping the SMEs to succeed.

It is expected that in partnership with companies such as CWG Plc that grew from micro enterprise itself to become a listed company, SMEDAN can make available to MSMEs around the country affordable technology that will allow them to manage their operations better, justify the funding they receive and also grow their market across the world.
