Dettol’s New Moms Program: Funke Akindele To Appear on TVC’s ‘Your View’ And Silverbird TV

Clean Naija, the National Hygiene Initiative of Dettol, will be taking center stage as Funke Akindele joins the ladies of TVC’s ‘Your View’ on Wednesday, 10th July 2019, to discuss Dettol’s foremost health initiative.

The ladies will be discussing Funke’s new mom status, and also better hygiene practices for the children, Mothers and the community in general.

The initiative comes at a critical time, as Nigeria has been ranked amongst the top nations that bear a significant portion of the global disease burden and high under-5 mortality rates with over 150,000 children dying yearly.

Many of these diseases, such as diarrhea can be prevented by proper hand washing habits and wide scale hygiene education. This is a major motivation for the setting up of the Clean Naija Initiative.

Over the past 7 years, Dettol has been at the forefront of providing hygiene education with programs such as the School Hygiene Program which has educated over Six million children and teachers on proper hand hygiene habits, and the New Mums Program, which has educated over five million pregnant and new mothers on hygienic practices which have been very helpful in protecting them during the different phases of their pregnancies.

In continuation of her media tour, Funke will also appear on Silverbird TV on Thursday, 11th July 2019, to share insights on how to cultivate and maintain healthy hygiene practices.

Ugo Onwuaso is an ICT enthusiast. He believes technology should be used for general good. He holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the Lagos state University.

UBA’s REDTV to Light Up #UBAmarketplace 2019 With Creative Panel Sessions, Others

Youths and adults alike are in for a great time at the #UBAMarketplace2019 as UBA’s award winning online network, REDTV has lined up a number of exciting acts to keep visitors and participants entertained during the two-day event which will take place on July 26th and 27th 2019.

 

The UBAMarketplace2019 will be held on the sidelines of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Forum – the largest gathering of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Africa.

 

The over 20,000 expected guests will be treated to a lot of  entertainment, panel sessions, fashion, fun, comedy, relaxation and will have the unique opportunity to meet with some of their favourite stars and celebrities.

 

Africa’s star boy Wizkid will sit with UBA’s GMD, Kennedy Uzoka, in a fireside chat with the theme ‘Stars & Suits: Afropop meets High Finance’ as Richard Mofe Damijo, the top Nollywood icon, will sit in a movie panel session with Cynthia Nassardine, Cote D’ivoire’s darling; top Movie producer/director, Tunde Kelani to discuss the theme ‘The Big Picture: Business of film making’ and how entrepreneurs from Africa can benefit from the enterprise. The panel will be moderated by REDTV’s Executive Producer and Group Director for Communciations at UBA, Bola Atta.

 

The music industry will not be left out at the UBA marketplace as Dj Cuppy, Dj Neptune and Pheelz the Producer will discuss on the theme ‘Booth to Bank: How the beat becomes the profit’.

 

Uzoka who spoke about the event, stated ‘UBA has always been at the forefront of entrepreneurship across Africa, undertaking many projects aimed at contributing to and supporting Africa’s growth and economic integration. The birth of the UBA marketplace and this entrepreneurial fair is a testament to our commitment to African SMEs’

 

Uzoka added that with the fair, UBA seeks to touch base with small business owners and to continue to positively affect the lives of entrepreneurs doing business in its countries of operations and beyond’.  “I think everyone realises that we need to prioritise the private sector. We need to encourage entrepreneurship and the youths. This is the driving factor and the major reason why we are organising an event of this magnitude’ he said.

 

Other side attractions at the Redzone will be the screening of the Lion King Movie and Bling Lagosians; fashion shows; treasure hunts, Kiddies corner as well as a Founder’s Day pitch event, where beneficiaries of the Tony Elumelu Foundation will be presented a platform to pitch their businesses with a grand prize of a grant, courtesy of UBA.

Glo-sponsored African Voices Celebrates Three Disc Jockeys

The Glo-sponsored CNN African Voices will this weekend celebrate a new generation of the continent’s disc jockeys, including Amine K from Morocco, DJ Avneesh from Mauritius and Senegal’s DJ Dollar.

The 30-minute-magazine programme comes up on CNN at 9.30 a.m., with repeats on Saturday at 12.30 a.m., 4.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. Other repeat broadcasts come up on Sunday at 5.00 a.m., 9.30 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. with more repeats on Monday and Tuesday at 5.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. respectively.

DJ Amine K from Morocco commands wide followership across the continent for his dexterity on the jukebox. His performances always get clubs filled, with his fans dancing to good house music.

He has played for audiences at electronic music festivals around the world, with his music focused on quality dance floor experiences.

In the course of his disc jockey career, he has performed in different music festivals across Europe, sharing the limelight with other notable disc jockeys including Mandy, Nick Warren, Lee Burridge and Gui Boratto.

The second guest, DJ Avneesh, is one of the most successful and respected DJs in Mauritius. He understands the art of combining instrumental sounds to produce beauty of form, harmony and expression of emotion which eventually earned him a residency at Supperclub Singapore in 2008.

He is an artiste that has succeeded in making his music heard, through his deck-spinning maneuvers, whether in his homeland or to far reaching horizons by pulling down geographical boundaries.

One of the highlights of his career is the performance on the Great Wall of China.

The third guest, DJ Dollar, is from Senegal. He delights Africans by bringing excitement to events across the continent. His access to the latest trends in music productions and performances gives him an edge over others in the industry.

DJ Dollar is backed by many years’ experience through which he has serenaded his admirers with beautiful mix of lyrics and blasting international airwaves with his electronic hits.

IDS Africa Inks Deal for Broadcast Services on AMOS-17 Communications Satellite

Spacecom, operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, has announced that Nigeria-based IDS Africa is the newest broadcaster to sign up for broadcast services on the AMOS-17 satellite. The satellite is scheduled to be launched to its 17°E orbital position in August 2019.

 

IDS Africa will use the satellite to broadcast Channels TV news programming throughout Nigeria as well as to the Nigerian diaspora in Europe.

 

Spacecom worked closely with local partner INTERTEL Nigeria Limited to bring this deal to fruition.

 

Specifically designed to meet Africa’s fast-moving communication demands, AMOS-17’s advanced digital payload will be Africa’s most technologically advanced satellite.

 

It will provide extensive C-Band HTS capabilities, Ka-band and Ku-band to a range of markets and will combine broad regional beams and high throughput spot beams to maximize throughput and spectral efficiency to connect Africa,the Middle East and Europe.

 

“We are very much looking forward to using AMOS-17’s beams to broadcast Channels TV to our audiences here in Nigeria and abroad. The satellite’s power will enable our entertainment and messages to be easily picked up and enjoyed by our audiences.” Toyin Ogunlade of IDS Africa said.

 

Jacob Keret, Spacecom Senior VP Sales and Marketing stated, “AMOS-17 will service Nigeria as well as the rest of Sub-Sahara Africa. One of the prime markets we are targeting is that of broadcast. We are looking forward to broadcasting IDS Africa’s content and to working closely with their team.”
