Digital Economy is Most Promising – Obaseki
Mr Godwin Obaseki, governor, Edo State, has called for the adoption of smart Information and Communications Technology tools and solutions as an alternative to oil in diversifying the Nigerian economy.
He warned that the country would not develop if the bulk of the savings remained tied to buying foreign exchange for importation.
The governor spoke at the Edo State Annual Banker’s Dinner held in Benin City, according to a statement by the state government.
He said, the growth of the digital economy was vital in providing the ICT-driven solutions to everyday problems.
Obaseki added that the sector was the most potent in mobilising other sectors to align with the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the Federal Government.
He said for Nigeria to develop, the citizens must utilise deposits and savings effectively to drive growth and advancement.
“Nobody will bring their savings here as capital for your development; we have to do it ourselves,” Obaseki said.
