Digital Jewels, has introduced an online wisdom and secure sense to sensitise on cyber security.

Adedoyin Odunfa, managing director, Digital Jewels, at the information security awareness programme and product launch in Lagos said lack of awareness of cyber security skills are key factors affecting information security.

She said that online wisdom, which comes in form of books and CDs, was to heighten the level of information security awareness that will help minimize the level of information security compromise and electronic banking fraud.

According to her, the secure sense was an initiative aimed at improving work place security in the public and private sectors, adding, there is an urgent need for corporate awareness, our resources are in the form of e-learning tools, posters, screen savers and illustrative videos aimed at ensuring awareness in information security in general.

Odunfa, urged stakeholders to forge collective efforts to defeat online fraud, saying information and proper awareness hold the key to the fight.

Tope Fadeshemi, director in charge of e-Governance in the Federal Ministry of Information Technology, said the MCT CSIRT, being implemented through NITDA would be charged with the responsibility of tracking, preventing as well as reporting cybercrimes within the nation’s borders.

He described the CSIRT as a viable IT infrastructure, which will allow people with requisite knowledge to monitor suspicious movements or transactions and hopefully stop it.

According to him, it can also alert the organisations concerned to potential attacks or in some cases track whatever attack that had been carried out,” he said.

He explained that CSIRT was being driven by the office of the National Security Adviser as they have the authority to relate with other jurisdictions to act on different aspects of cybercrimes, which individuals and corporate bodies might not be able to do.
