Drama, Suspense as Zain Africa Challenge Enters Third Episode

As popular quiz show, Zain Africa Challenge enters its third episode this week, two leading African Universities, Africa Nazarene University, Kenya and Njala University, Sierra Leone will vie for continental glory in the fast-paced quiz contest.
According to Emeka Oparah, Zain’s Head of Corporate Communications, the third episode will be packed with suspense, drama and intrigue and will capture the same set of connections as the previous episodes, taking viewers through another exciting academic battle.
The programme, which features select Nigerian Universities will be televised on Monday on STV by 8pm; Wednesdays on NTA by 8:30 pm and Thursdays on AIT by 7:30 pm. The contest will also be shown across the whole of Africa on the DSTV satellite platform on Magic World on Monday at 7:30 pm; on Africa Magic Plus on Tuesdays at 9:20 am and 6:20 pm, and Wednesdays at 12:30am.
Few weeks ago, over 200 million viewers across Africa were held spellbound as representatives of University of Ghana, Ghana did their country men proud when they conquered University of Arusha, Tanzania in the second episode of the game show. The contest ended 850 to 470 in favour of the lads from Legon.
“Just like the first and second episode, the third episode will feature another fascinating round of suspense, drama, intrigues, tension and wit as the Ghanaians engage the boys from Sierra Leone in the quiz competition,” said Oparah.
Oparah further revealed that Viewers can test their intellectual aptitude by participating in the Home Viewers Game segment, a platform created to excite viewers and also empower them to win big in the quiz competition. Questions on the Home Viewers’ Game segment are usually embedded in corresponding episodes with clear instructions on the mechanics for participation.
Zain Africa Challenge is part of Zain’s efforts to promote education and emphasize Zain’s corporate commitment to creating ‘A wonderful world’” for its customers. The questions in the fast-paced quiz cover a wide range of topics, including history, science, African culture, geography, literature, music and current affairs. Furthermore, Zain Africa Challenge, or ZAC as it has become fondly known, highlights the excellent educational opportunities at African universities with videos and student profiles.
Season three of the Zain Africa Challenge, which was held last year, saw first time participants The University of Ibadan (UI) from Nigeria emerge victorious in the heated ‘battle of brains’. For its efforts, UI was awarded a US$ 50,000 grant from Zain, while each team member received US$ 5,000. In second place was Kenyatta University, which won a grant of US$ 35,000, while each team member went home with US$3,500. All the other schools that participated in the tournament received grants ranging from US$ 5,000 to US$ 25,000.

As an autonomous institution, Njala University has eight (8) Schools/Faculties including, Agriculture, Education, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Community Health Sciences, Technology Forestry and Horticulture and Medical Sciences. Seven of these Schools are operational and the remaining one, i.e., Medical Sciences, will become operational in due course.
