Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron, French president’s visit to Nigeria early this week trended most on Google search Nigeria over the last seven days.

Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications & Public Affairs Manager, West Africa, made this known on Thursday in Lagos.

Kola-Ogunlade, said the French leader held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday and then headed to Lagos, the economic capital of the country for a social outing with the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

He noted that Macron visited the Afrika Shrine in Ikeja and celebrated African culture with popular Nigerian musicians such as Asa, Banky W and more.

He said “Excited Nigerians raced to Google search to read more about Macron’s visit”.

 

Kola-Ogunlade also noted that the release of trailer for season 5, episode 2 of the hit series Power trended this week on Google search item.

He said, “The action series is a massive hit and is the second most watched show on US cable after Game of Thrones.

He added that Starz, the network behind the show, has announced the renewal of the show for season 6, making ‘Power season 5’ a top trending term.

 The Google Communications Manager also said that the highly charged match between Belgium and Japan attracted many research results as football fans raced to Google to keep up with previews, highlights and fixtures from the 2018 World Cup matches.

He said “as the 2018 FIFA World Cup reached the knockout stages, Belgium took on Japan.

“In the end, the highly-fancied European team came from behind to beat their Asian counterparts 3-2.

“Football fans raced to Google to keep up with previews, highlights and fixtures from the 2018 World Cup matches,” he added.

Kola-Ogunlade added that the defeat of Spain by Russia on penalty kicks on Sunday saw Nigerian football fans searched Google for results, recap and fixtures of the final matches, making it one of the most trended search items during the last seven days.
