The first set of lucky Glo subscribers who emerged winners in the ongoing Glo “Recharge to Stardom” promo were on Saturday presented with cheques ranging from N5million to N1million, N25,000, and N10,000 each.
The winners who were full of gratitude to Glo for organising a special promo for subscribers on its 10th anniversary said that it was “great joy” being a subscriber on the Glo network.
Timothy Asianya, a young communications engineer from Enugu became the first person to win N5million in the promo while Simon Anyanwu, a businessman from Port Harcourt and Julius Okomayin, a pensioner from Edo state won N1million each. Twenty five other lucky subscribers won N25,000 each while cash prizes of N10,000 were presented to another twenty five lucky subscribers.
Speaking at the prize presentation to winners before a mammoth crowd during the Glo Slide and Bounce concert held at Oriental Hotel in Lagos, the winners said the prizes will have a positive impact on their lives.
Asianya who stated that he simply continued to recharge his phone before winning the N5million prize expressed his absolute confidence in the transparency of Glo promos as he had seen and interacted with winners in previous promos.
“I am overjoyed, happy and thankful to Glo. My Mum found it unbelievable that I won but I had no doubt in my mind because I had seen and interacted with the winner of a Toyota Venza in a previous Glo promo”, he said.
The story of Pa Julius Okomayin, a pensioner, was touching and it demonstrated that age or location cannot prevent anyone from winning in the promo. He had worked as Secretary to the Onojie of Ekpoma for the past 25 years, Okomayin was on his way to Lagos to collect his pension when he received a call from Glo that he had won the sum of N1milion.
“I have been using Glo for the past 10 years and I always replace my line every time I lose it. I never knew I could win this kind of money. I pray that Glo will continue to grow so they can create more opportunities for more people in Nigeria”, he said.
Prizes were presented to the winners by special dignitaries that included the Lagos state Commissioner for Transport, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, Edo state Commissioner for Information, Hon.
