At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) will demonstrate how it is shaping the Networked Society and turning great ideas into global realities.

From February 22 to February 25, 2016 in Barcelona, Spain, Ericsson’s experts will present a wide range of demonstrations, launches and seminars.

These will show how Ericsson is empowering people through technology, transforming industries to deliver more value, and advancing society through sustainable development.

Some highlights that can be experienced in Ericsson's hall (Hall 2, Stand 2N60, Fira Gran Via) at MWC 2016 include:

5G
5G Radio Prototypes: Phase 2 of Ericsson’s award-winning 5G Radio Test Bed, which includes 5G radio prototypes set for operator field trials in 2016, will be running live and delivering industry-leading performance with advanced features such as Massive MIMO and beam tracking.

5G for Industries: Ericsson works closely with partners to develop 5G networks that meet the demands of industrial applications.

The results of these collaborations, along with concepts and prototypes supporting the ICT transformation of the manufacturing and automotive industries, will be presented.

Telehaptic Control: visitors can try out a prototype system for semi-autonomous, remote flying of radio-controlled helicopters.

By adding haptic feedback to video and audio, users can feel the helicopter moving and interacting with its environment.

The demonstration is part of Ericsson’s ongoing research into industry transformation opportunities enabled by 5G networks.

Network Slicing: We create one network that can support multiple industries – and here we show how, with good reference to SK telecom and their aim to create a 5G ready core

Internet of Things (IoT)
Cellular IoT: Ericsson’s leading low power wide area (LPWA) cellular IoT solutions will be demonstrated live, including Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), LTE-M (Cat M) and EC-EGPRS/EC-GSM (Extended Coverage) for Massive IoT applications. These solutions will also power industry demonstrations focused on utilities, transport and agriculture.

IoT Solutions: Ericsson will demonstrate how to build and efficiently manage IoT networks that combine devices connected directly to a 5G system with devices connected via short-range radio through capillary gateways, as well as live demonstration of Virtual Evolved Packet Core (EPC) for Massive IoT.

A related presentation will show how forthcoming Bluetooth low energy mesh technology can be used for capillary connectivity in a smart home.

Cloud
Evolution To Hyperscale IT Infrastructure: The Ericsson Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000 – a new generation of datacenter system using disaggregated hardware architecture for better resource utilization – will be on show, together with the latest Ericsson cloud offerings.

Cloud RAN: Ericsson’s live Cloud RAN demonstration will include radio access functionality virtualized on remote COTS servers located in Sweden.

Ericsson’s new Elastic RAN architecture, which enables virtually limitless baseband interconnections, will also be featured.

The journey to NFV: Ericsson will showcase its end-to-end role in the Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) story, including software-defined networking (SDN) and evolution to the 5G-ready core. Solutions on show include vEPC, vIMS and vUDC, as well as Ericsson Cloud Manager.
