Ernest Ndukwe to Chair Titans of Tech 2013 Conference

Dr Ernest Ndukwe,  chairman presidential committee on broadband penetration, Director, Centre for Infrastructure Policy, Regulation and Advancement (CIPRA) and immediate past executive vice chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) would chair the Titans of Tech 2013 conference, it has been revealed.

Mr. Don Pedro Aganbi, managing consultant, Technology Africa, organiser of the Titans of Tech conference, noted that Dr. Ndukwe’s consent to Chair the conference session of the annual technology crowd puller is indeed an endorsement of the objectives and ideals of the Titans of Tech Conference.

The conference is meant to engender further growth of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector and indeed ICT market, through the provision of a platform for constructive dialogue and opportunity to network to influence policy.
 
According to Mr. Aganbi, “With the theme “Broadband, Data Centres and the Quest for Inclusive Society” the conference will afford participants ample opportunities to dialogue on the growing need to promote access to broadband across the country”.

He stated that broadband and Data Centres are perhaps the biggest issues in ICT today noting that the growth of the emergent information (digital) society has been hinged on the availability of these two critical factors in a country.

The ICT Enthusiast argued, “We believe it is imperative to continue to encourage the development of robust, reliable and affordable ICT infrastructure particularly of the sort that drive availability of broadband and enables the establishment of data centres in the country.

Aganbi noted that the Titans of Tech, now in its eighth year, would provide a platform for government to present its plans/policies and the private sector to provide insights into challenges, opportunities, available solutions and options in deploying infrastructure to support the emerging digital economy. In addition it is a great opportunity for networking and forging strategic partnerships amongst key stakeholders in the sector.

Ndukwe, who is a member of Lagos business School (LBS) faculty, is a professional Telecommunications Engineer with over 35 years of international experience in the telecommunications industry, majority of which have been in senior management positions in private multi-national telecommunications companies and in government Telecom policy & regulation.
 
During his tenure at the NCC, the commission earned the reputation as a government agency where transparency and openness are consistently extolled as virtue.

Ndukwe is also a past chairman of the Administrative Council of the African Telecommunications Union and past Chairman of the West African Telecom Regulators Assembly (WATRA), an organization he helped pioneer. He is also currently a Vice Chairman of the Telecom Development Advisory Group of the International Telecommunications Union representing Nigeria.
