Etisalat the fastest growing and most innovative mobile telecommunications operator in the country has announced the launch of the 2nd edition of its ‘Etisalat Easybusiness Millionaire Hunt.”
The initiative would see the company empower SMEs with grants, training, office equipment and expertise support to actualise their business ideas.
The 2015 edition of Easybusiness Millionaire Hunt was launched with a call for entries and will see 50 entrepreneurs with brilliant business ideas rewarded with training and office equipment, while 10 entrepreneurs with the best ideas will be rewarded with two million naira each at the end of the 2nd season.
Lucas Dada, director Enterprise Segment, Etisalat Nigeria, told reporters at the media launch of the season 2 in Lagos, that the Easybusiness Millionaire Hunt was created out of company’s passion to grow the nucleus of the economy; the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector.
“Easybusiness Millionaire Hunt serves as a platform to further showcase our commitment to investments in small and growing businesses in Nigeria. At Etisalat, we are aware that though every business starts small, there is always the potential of becoming big. We see a lot of young people joining the workforce every year and we believe that by helping to empower SMEs, the creation of more job opportunities can easily be achieved,” Dada said.
According to him, “I am delighted to announce that our Easybusiness Millionaire Hunt initiative has recorded notable successes internationally by one of the winners of the 1st edition, Oluyomi Ojo of Printivo Limited who has been offered a co-partnership by Silicon Valley – a foreign financier of small businesses in Africa.”
The 2nd edition Dada says will also run in partnership with EDC who will provide a platform where successful applicants will be trained, developed, mentored and eventually rewarded with business support grants and equipment.
Nneka Okekearu, deputy director, Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan-Atlantic University, said, “We are happy to partner with Etisalat on the Easybusiness Millionaire Hunt. Etisalat has made the right choice by revolutionizing the business sector with this grand initiative. We can testify that it is real and we see it not only unlocking business opportunities in the SME sector but also promoting greatness in the Nigerian economy."
As an additional incentive, Etisalat will also be giving out 3 phones daily to lucky winners who text ‘yes to 5885’, and also 5 all in one scanner, printer & copier will be won every month by 5 lucky Etisalat subscribers who successfully upload their business ideas during the call for entry period.
The 1st edition of the Easybusiness Millionaire in 2014 saw top 10 participants; Bosede Olanihun, Oluwayomi Ojo, Abdulazeez Ibrahim, Idongesit Umoh, Muhammad Salisu Abdullahi, Nwachinemere Emeka, Eberenna Nwanjoku, Opeyemi Ajayi, Joseph Eze, and Adesuwa Ojumola rewarded with a monetary grant of N2, 000,000 each and the top 50 got office equipment such as laptops, scanners, printers, copiers and a 5 days capacity building training at the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan Atlantic University, Lagos.
