Etisalat Hits 5 Million Subscriber Base, Unveils Easy Life Tariff

Etisalat Nigeria, Nigeria’s most innovative telecommunications company has announced that the network now has five million active subscribers on its network.
Steve Evans, Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat said the company is on a journey and has the vision to build Etisalat Nigeria into a world-class telecoms provider, which sets new standards of excellence in the Nigerian Telecoms industry.
“As Nigeria approaches her 50th anniversary, we are proud to announce that we now have 5 million active customers on our network. This is an important milestone and if one casts one’s mind back to the end of 2009 when we registered 2.7 million customers, you can see that our growth is accelerating.”
“In 22 months of commercial operations in Nigeria, we have accomplished major milestones that older competition could not achieve for years after they began operations. We are now present in all 36 Nigerian states and are densifying our network as our customer base grows. We now have over 1500 cell sites across the nation and are rolling out even more as we continually seek to ensure full and complete coverage of the nation. Every of our 1500 cell sites are data-enabled, another first in Nigeria considering that most other networks took longer to roll out and not all their sites are data enabled. For us, this is another first definitely worth celebrating,” Evans said.
He said “We are not by any means resting on our laurels as we are committed to continually growing our customer base and look forward to announcing our 50millionth subscriber in the shortest possible time”.
Etisalat Nigeria, also in its bid to constantly bring value to its customers and offer affordable tariff structure has introduced the Easy Life tariff proposition.
The new tariff proposition offers customers on the Easy Starter and Easy Cliq packages a lower rate of 25 kobo per second to any network, anytime, anywhere in Nigeria from September 1, 2010.
The half call rates tariff package offers subscribers the benefits of doubling their call time whenever they load credit given the current call rate of 50 kobo per second.

To maximise the benefits of the Easy Life offer, all a subscriber needs to do is to simply dial *220*1#. Subscription to the offer attracts an automatic daily access fee of N20 only.
Upon subscription, a notification confirming the subscription is received. Subscribers can also deactivate subscription to the offer by dialling *220*2#.
Ammar announced that mid-night calls on the Easy Starter or Easy Cliq are not affected by subscription to East Life as subscribers on the Easy Starter are still able to enjoy 10 kobo per second to all Etisalat lines between 12am and 4.30 am.
Easy Cliq subscribers will also continue to enjoy free midnight calls, provided the required conditions are met.
