University of Port Harcourt was agog for three full days as Nigeria’s leading telecommunications company Etisalat Nigeria stormed the institution with cliqfest.
Cliqfest campus tour powered by etisalat’s youth brand - easycliq included a motivational seminar, a football competition and a concert designed to empower, educate and entertain the students.
The motivational seminar featured Niyi Adesanya, a seasoned motivational speaker rated as one of the Top 10 speakers in the country, who spoke on the theme: "Spirit of Enterprise: Enhanced Competitiveness.”
He stressed the need to enhance competitiveness among the youth, emphasised the importance of having an enterprise culture with the ability to react quickly to situations, and urged the students to equip themselves with information that is psychologically, sociologically, intellectually, physiologically and spiritually relevant to enable them face the competitive market.
Adesanya used different tools in the course of the seminar, one of which was the ‘Disc Personality Profiling’ system applying the popular SWOT model to guide the students in performing a self-assessment of themselves.
The Disc Personality Profiling, he pointed out, would help each student identify his personality type as either Melancholy (Compliant Controller), Sanguine (Influencing Relator), Choleric (Dominant Director) or Phlegmatic (Steady Supporter).
Also using the SWOT analysis, he explained that it would help the students identify their weaknesses; so as to begin working on a conversion plan to correct such as this will further equip and help them in the journey of self-discovery and self-improvement.
Elvis Daniel, head, Youth Segment, Etisalat Nigeria, said: “cliqfest represents a mix of cliquing, education and festivity riding on our innovative easycliq package. Our desire is to motivate all-round development in our students. We want our youths to be balanced, connected and in touch with the ever-changing career turns, social trends and lifestyles. We introduced a football competition in the reloaded cliqfest, to showcase team work, quality and innovation, some of the shared values of Etisalat and the world’s number one football team, FC Barcelona.”
In another talk, with the theme: ‘Branding Self’ Daniel advised the students to consider themselves as brands that must be kept alive.
According to him, successes of notable global brands are embodied by consistency.
He urged the students to find what they are most passionate about and develop their strengths in those areas in order to stand out from their peers in Nigeria’s competitive market.
The highpoint of the events was when a lucky student, Ezinma Fabulous, a 400-level student, won the star prize of a Hyundai i-10, in a raffle draw, courtesy Etisalat’s Easycliq. Several other students also won laptops, Blackberry phones, dual sim phones, recharge cards, and many branded items.
The event also featured performances from various students of the university as well as a dance crew Mad4xt and other side attractions such as ball joggling and a dance competition.
The three day event was crowned with a concert which had musical performances from popular artistes such as Rayce, Dj Zeez, Wande Coal, Terry G and Nigerian Idol star, Joe Blue who thrilled the students to hit songs.
