FAAN Deploys 10 Patrol Vehicles to Boost Airport Security Surveillance

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has deployed more patrol vehicles at the airport in the wake of series of claims of burglary at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

It would be recalled that some time ago, a private jet conveying two top Nigerian musical artists, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun aka Wizkid and Tiwa Savage from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital was reportedly robbed at the airport, while taxiing on the runway but the authorities dismissed majority these claims.

The latest was the alleged burglary of Air Peace aircraft which the Airport authorities as well as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) dismissed.

FAAN’s deployment of 10 additional patrol vans is a move to strengthen security surveillance.

Henrietta Yakubu, FAAN spokesperson confirmed that “The deployment of these vehicles is one of the measures being adopted by the Authority to enhance operational efficiency and also boost security procedures at the airport”.

She assured airport users and the general public that the authority will continue to upgrade its facilities, processes and procedures, “in consonance with our core values of security, safety and comfort”.

The airport is the busiest in Nigeria, handling more than 70 per cent of local and international flights.
