The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has won the best Government Agency Award at the recently concluded 8th Abuja International Trade Fair held from September 26 – October 10.
The Authority’s excellent performance at the fair was adjudged the best among government agency exhibitors that participated in the fair.
FAAN showcased the numerous investment opportunities available in all the 22 airports it manages across the country and this was made more effective through an investment road show it organized at the fair.
The Authority also took time to explain various Government policies in the aviation industry which have clearly streamlined terms and conditions of business partnerships between it and investors, for greater mutual prosperity.
The road show, which was done in partnership with Mambissa (Nig) Limited, presenter of Amistados Orchestra, an international musical Artistry group, was aimed at taking the efforts of the Authority at remodelling the nation’s airports and the various investment opportunities therein to the doorstep of prospective investors in particular and the public in general.
The Authority, in planning the show, sought to take advantage of the window of awareness campaign which the fair offered to individuals and corporate bodies that took part in the event.
The Aerotropolis project (building cities around the airports) was also explained to potential investors at the fair while farmers were told to take advantage of the 13 designated agro-based cargo airports structured to boost export of agro-produce from Nigeria to other countries of the world.
Most of the remodelled airports attracted investment interests, including those in Lagos, Kano, Enugu, Abuja and Benin which have already been commissioned. Apart from Owerri and Yola Airports which are ready for commissioning, the others are at various stages of completion.
Most visitors to FAAN’s stand at the exhibition were excited about the construction of five new international terminals in Lagos, Enugu and Port Harcourt, Kano and Abuja Airports, work on some of which has since commenced.
