Adejokun was recognised in the “Rising Voices” category at the event, held at Alliance Française de Lagos and attended by communications professionals and industry leaders from the corporate and financial sectors.

Speaking after receiving the recognition, Adejokun said authenticity was central to building lasting influence in communications.

“True influence comes from authenticity. If we want our stories to endure, they must be intentional and rooted in our own reality, rather than manufactured for external validation,” he said.

The event also focused on the need for African communications professionals to develop narratives grounded in local perspectives. Omawumi Ogbe, managing partner of GLG Communications, urged practitioners to move beyond reliance on external lenses.

“We are building our own table,” Ogbe said.

Other honourees included Anne Ezeh of Afreximbank, Femi Adeniran of Airtel Nigeria, Hakama Sidi-Ali of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayinka Ijabiyi of FirstBank Group, Omotola Oyebanjo of CIMMYT, Oyinade Adegite of GTCO Plc, Sylva Ifedigbo of IHS Towers and Tosin Adefeko of AT3 Resources.
