FG Tasks Civil Servants on ICT

Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, head of the Civil Service of the Federation

Federal government has urged civil servants in the country to acquire Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills.

Alhaji Bukar Aji, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, made the call while declaring open an ICT Proficiency Training Programme organised by his office for officers on salary Grade Levels 17 and below.

The HOSF also enjoined the civil servants to develop themselves in modern ICT to enhance their productivity.

“Self-development in ICT by civil servants is crucial to enhance the quality of service delivery to the public. The global community is switching from the manual method of transacting government business to a highly technical office automation method; and from paper transaction to a paperless environment.

“Many government operations are now being conducted through on-line interactions with the public, and in the Federal Civil Service.

“All efforts are being made to ensure that officers are trained to make civil servants compliant with this new ways of transacting government business so as to ensure that the public is provided with services that are of high quality, timely and professional.’’

He said that the training was aimed at ensuring that all officers, irrespective of their cadres, were ICT proficient within the shortest possible period.

He however urged the participants to apply the acquired skills in their daily activities.
