A vocation promotion organization, Career Development Network (CD Net) has opened a research guide for both secondary and post-secondary school leavers in career choice-making. Akintunde Akinmolayan, the project coordinator, CD Net, disclosed that the portal serves as platform to aid school pupils and other users shape their thinking pattern, while exploring the site to reshape their career.
He made the remark during a presentation at the sixth edition of “We Are the Future of Our Nation’, a platform to motivate youths in the society to emulate worthy models. Akinmolayan informed the gathering that, “This portal is for career explorers - every secondary school student, post secondary student, graduate, mid-career worker, job seeker, business owner etc who is thinking about what to do next or which direction to head and for those parents, guardians, counselors, influencing others in making those decisions. “The resources available will help you find career options; requirements; routes and potential job types.” According to him, the site was designed to assist users develop skills on information gathering; research writing and content creation, submission and review. “Is also meant for students and other users to get motivated by learning from ‘top guns,’ gain industry insight and experience.
There are articles to spur you visitors on the site. The question has been: after the graduation ceremony, then what? There tips for creating a great CV,” he added. Earlier in a welcome address, Yinka Ogunde, the conveyor of the event, said such program serves as an incubator where current leaders can inspire future leaders, with the hope of building a great nation. Ogunde subscribes to the fact that the desire places a responsibility on shoulders of Nigerian leaders, especially in providing platforms to develop the leadership and innate skills of innate skills of the younger generation of Nigerians.
She lamented that not so much is being done to prepare those that will run the touted and documented plan to make Nigeria one of the world’s twenty biggest economies in the year 2020. “Our gathering serves as an incubator where current leaders can inspire future leaders, with the hope of building a great nation. We want to reiterate that we have remained committed to our core objectives, which are: inspiring, patriotism, celebrating role models, and promoting unity.
Ogunde said that the social ground for mentoring has decided to provide, in a single compendium, information about opportunities that young secondary school graduates in Nigeria can access. The documentation will provide information about scholarships, non-governmental organizations, Information Technology training.
