Firm Mulls Renewable Energy Workshop to Empower Students, Artisans

Renewable Energy has been recognized as a solution to address the poor and acute shortage of energy supply in Nigeria.

Renewable energy, according to experts, is generated from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.

In “My Take” Renewable Energy Industry Outlook 2017 by Marlene Motyka, US Renewable Energy leader at Deloitte, noted that throughout 2016, renewables effectively competed against fossil fuel generation in power markets and for procurement contracts across the United States and around the world.

"It’s clear that renewable energy resources have outgrown the 'alternative' label. Will renewables sustain their competitive edge throughout 2017? How are global and domestic markets evolving as a result of these changing dynamics?", Motyka said.

Due to the declining costs of solar and wind technologies as well as the anticipation of a more carbon-constrained future, today the global growth of renewable energy is increasingly driven by voluntary procurement by utilities and corporations, the Deloitte report shown.

To this end, The Leo6 Technologies Limited, has perfected plans for a workshop that will address the practical competencies in the field in Nigeria.

Speaking to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek on the Workshop which holds on August 25th-26th, 2017 at The Leo6 Technologies Limited, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Mr. Olatunde Tijani, the chief executive officer, said that workshop is open to artisans, students, NYSC members, electrical engineers/contractors, civil servants and many more.

He said that students, in particular, stand a lot of benefit from the Workshop now that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have embarked on indefinite strike. 

"In this fast-paced, IT inclined world, it has become extremely essential to come up to standard when it comes down to technological equipment. It is to this effect that The Leo6 Technologies Limited has arisen to satisfy the technological needs.

"Not only that, we are developing the workforce for the deployment of renewable energy in the Country. That is why this workshop is crucial. And it comes at the time ASUU is on strike; students and others can make the best use of their time by participating.
