Galaxy Backbone Ltd, leading public sector ICT infrastructure and services provider, has reiterated its commitment to continue to partner with Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State to improve the quality of education in secondary schools in the state.

Mr. Gerald Ilukwe, managing director of the company,  made the commitment at the launch of the Anambra State Secondary Schools Connectivity and Education Programme and formal presentation of cheques to its technology partners by the Governor at Awka, the state capital recently.

According to Galaxy Backbone boss, "In the 21st Century no qualitative education can be possible without computerisation and internet access."

He reminded the audience that Anambra State under Governor Peter Obi was the 1st state in Nigeria in 2010 to computerize and provide internet access to over 100 secondary schools. He described the launch as an extension of the same initiative to cover all secondary schools numbering over 400 spread across the state. "This is unprecedented in Nigeria".

Ilukwe confirmed that the Anambra State Secondary Schools Connectivity and Education programme is designed for sustainability with the coming together of leading ICT brands such as Galaxy Backbone, Microsoft, HP, Ghezil Technology and Technology Distribution, a subsidiary of Zinox as technology partners to the state government at a cost of over N2.6B.

He said further that the launch event is a demonstration of the determination of Governor Obi's administration to equip secondary school students in Anambra State with the ICT skills required for survival in the 21st century. According to him, "it is only a Governor that is constantly thinking about his people that can achieve what we are witnessing today".
