Galaxy Backbone Partners Nigerian Pavilion @ ITU Telecom World 2014 in Doha

Galaxy Backbone Ltd  participated at the just  ended International Telecommunications Union (ITU) organized Telecom World 2014 Exhibitions and Forum in Doha, Qatar as a key partner of the Nigerian Pavilion.

The theme of Nigeria’s Pavilion is “Broadband Nigeria: Enabling Access” and Galaxy’s participation as a key partner of the Nigerian Pavilion at the international event was an opportunity to further demonstrate Galaxy’s commitment to leverage global developments in ICT to drive e-Government as part of the transformation agenda.

According to Owoicho Igoji, general manager-Corporate Services, “Galaxy’s presence at the Nigerian pavilion is a demonstration our passionate desire to drive the use of ICT in the public sector and the provision of pervasive infrastructural platform that supports the delivery of e-Government services by government MDAs to Nigerian citizens. This also supports our vision of enabling digital inclusion as a powerful developmental tool for bridging the poverty gap in the country. More importantly, Nigeria’s participation will not only showcase her achievements in the ICT sector, but also highlight the immense business opportunities in the sector and related industries, for the variety of investors who will be attending the global event”.

ITU Telecom World 2014 took place at a rather auspicious time especially with the expected role ICTs will play in transforming government and governance towards improved economic development.

Moreover, this year’s event with the theme,“ Future In Focus” provided Galaxy with the platform to showcase its achievements in connecting and enabling collaboration within Government.

In Doha, countries from across the African continent join other national pavilions to address the overarching theme of bridging the digital divide at ITU Telecom World 2014.

Pavilions representing South Africa, Burundi, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Malta, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Africa countries united a broad range of organizations from the non-profit, private and R&D sectors with the common goal of reasserting their commitment to ICT and digital development.

ITU Telecom World 2014 was a major milestone in addressing the issue of broadband access.

The conference was seen as an important industry event for the developing world, providing an opportunity to benchmark local ICT sectors in terms of policy, regulation, and infrastructure development.

It enabled the showcasing of local ICT, and represents an invaluable opportunity to attract inward investment and seek opportunities to engage with ICT companies from the developed world.

The ITU event is an avenue for mainstreaming Galaxy’s key messages on the concept of a connected government through 1-GOV.net which is a government cloud based services  platform for the provision of hosted services, messaging and collaboration including transversal services for Federal Government Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs).
