Giew House, a new fashion house in Lagos, opened to the public at the weekend, projecting its brand identity to the market.

Speaking at the public launch, Ms Gift Osarobo, the chief executive officer said that the brand identifies with special clothing line that defines the African woman.

To reach out to the end users, the House is already looking forward to developing an online marketplace.

Ms Osarobo who learnt the skill in Nigeria before travelling abroad to engage in modeling for clothing lines for over ten years, said she is back in the country to impact lives through Giew House.

“I have to put the creativity and experience I have gathered into setting up the Giew House. The motive is, first, I am from Nigeria. I have traversed many countries but I can’t call of them my home. I told myself that I must go home. So, starting up overseas is good, but I need to impact my immediate society. Starting here will also accord my family and friends the opportunity to guide me”, she said.

Ms Osarobo said she also ventured into the business to create employment and empower young people willing to learn the skills. “I am looking forward to get to that level where several jobs shall be created through Giew House. I am already getting calls and demands from potential customers and others that want to either work with me or get the training. However, I believe in taking my time to get the perfect timing and programmes right.

“For me, because it has been something I have been doing for years, it gave me the clues on what to expect. I have adapted to the system in Nigeria and the ECOWAS, having worked with the Fashion world.

She said the Giew House is open to source materials locally, adding that the Government needs to empower the industry by working out programmes to revamp the textile industry.

“We are sourcing materials locally which I was thinking will be very easy like walking on the street of New York and pick up your materials. It is not the same as visiting the Balogun market; for few weeks I did it I was like I needed to soft pedal and get the best options on how to source the materials. I will keep pushing. It is a lot to source fabrics.

“Government needs to support us through, because it is really a big deal to ring together, paying them and the footing the bills. So, this government has to support us especially by bringing revamping the dying textile companies. The fashion industry in Nigeria has to be the number one in Africa”, she said.

On ways to reach the desired customers, the Giew House CEO said, “Today, a lot of people go online to shop. So, I am looking forward to having my clothing, design and other stuffs online for people to buy. I am slo looking to have a bigger space for people to come and patronize us”.
