Gionee Launches in Nigeria with E6 Smartphone

Gionee Communication Equipment Company Limited has made triumphant entry into the Nigerian mobile phone market, announcing the invention of its latest smartphone E6 of ELIFE series.

Established in 2002, Gionee is a Chinese hi-tech company engaged in mobile device designing, research and development (R&D), manufacturing, and sales in international markets, and offering mobile internet application service.

Speaking at the product launch in Lagos on Wednesday, Mr. Jack Yung, Overseas (Business), Africa Regional Manager, Gionee,  said Gionee sells over 23 million handsets per year in China mainland, ranking as number three brand in 2G market share after Samsung and Nokia in Nov 2011, and number two in GSM market after Samsung in Aug 2012.

The Company which has been in Nigeria in the past two years promised to bring exciting moments to mobile phone users in the country through innovative products.

Also speaking, Engineer Chukkie Eze, managing director of the Company in Nigeria said that as a brand to be recognized as durable, long standby and easy to use, Gionee now is featured with new tags like fashionable, stylish, and premium user experience.

“Numerous Asian super stars have high praise for Gionee products and they are willing to tell people how nice the products are. In Nigeria we are foreseeing the same experience, because our studies have shown that users in Nigeria will welcome the products we have.

“And we are not just coming for commercial purpose; our interest encompass R&D which informed our decision to engage the government and other organisations to make life easier for the people, bringing different experience to Nigerians,” he added.

Speaking on the new phone, Gabriel Nwabueze, marketing manager, Gionee, said E6 was manufactured after understanding the need of individual customers and today’s smartphone market trends.

He said that unique thing about Gionee E Life E6 phone is that it uses world’s first White Display ( OGS – One Glass Solution );  a phone size of  2.54 x 7.7 and weighs only 128 grams. Phone has 5 inch fully HD touch screen display with 441 ppi pixel density. Resolution of display is 1920 x 1080 pixels.

“It is powered with 1.5 GHz quad core Mediatek processor and 2 GB RAM, which is a good combination of speed to get the better experience of speed while using multiple applicable on same time.

Acceding to Nwabueze, Gionee E Life E6 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and has Phone has 13 megapixels rear camera with auto focus, LED Flash and BSI sensor features. It also has 5 megapixels front facing camera for face to face conference and video chatting.

“Another good thing about Gionee E6 is that it has 31 GB internal ( onboard ) memory and user can expand it up to 64 GB with support of microSD card. Phone has 2020 mAh battery which is another best in talk time. Phone also has DTS 3D stereo surround sound speaker,” he added.

The company claims E6 features Heartbeat Synchronizing Technology that enables the system to synchronously wake up applications every ten minutes, reducing the number of applications wake ups improving power consumption.

Apart from that, it has motion sensing features allowing users to answer phones by directly raising it up to their ears, answer calls by sweeping a hand over the screen, flip between pictures by a sweeping motion, and automatically play/pause videos when the user looks away from the screen, among other gestures.
