Leadership Conferences limited, a subsidiary of Leadership newspapers has recognized Globacom as the GSM Company of the Year 2008.
Presenting the award in Abuja, Leadership said Globacom had established itself as the preferred telecom company in Nigeria by providing world-class telecom services and affordable product packages. According to the citation, “Globacom currently has over 22 million subscribers and has successfully launched its services in the Republic of Benin while Ghana’s GSM service will soon be rolled out.”
The citation stated further that Glo is the fastest growing network in Africa and the Middle East. “It is in light of all these accomplishments that the Leadership Group has chosen Globacom as the GSM Company of the Year 2008.”
Receiving the award on behalf of Globacom, Mr. Dimeji Alao, the company’s regional manager, said the management and Board of Globacom were impressed by Leadership Newspaper’s objectivity in independently conducting a research into the performance of telecom companies in the country “without our knowledge.” He applauded the newspaper for the courage and professionalism it has displayed.
