Globaltouch Launches Assets Tracking Solution

Globaltouch West Africa, a leading satellite tracking has urged Airline operators in the country to avail themselves of its range of tracking solutions so as to not only improve on their service delivery to their customers but also be in tune with modern developments in the global aviation industry.
Speaking at a forum for Airline operators Engr. Isaiah Mohammed, managing director of Globaltouch West Africa said that because Globaltouch sees security as very paramount in the aviation industry, the company has introduced to Nigeria, the unique service never seen in the history of satellite business in the country.
Mohammed said the solution coming from the stables of Guardian Mobility, its Canadian partners, will apart from making the business of aviation easier; also guarantee the much needed peace of mind that has often been elusive in the aviation business.
“We are the first Nigerian-based satellite tracking company; all others are foreign based and expensive. Our data communications solutions is based on satellite technology and our services are provided using a network of 48 satellites operating in a low earth orbit, which is less prone to severe weather disruptions. We have partnered with Globalstar, a global leader in the provision of mobile satellite voice and data services to introduce to the Nigerian aviation industry, Guardian Mobility world class solution which offers end-to-end solutions to solve multiple business problems,” Mohammed said.
He said the company is building a new dedicated command and control centre in Abuja which besides enabling the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) track the movement of all Nigerian registered aircrafts, will also allow each operator have its own login and access to its data.
Ken Stewart, a representative of Guardian Mobility said that the solution will allow the operator to know the status and location of all aircrafts in its fleet at all times as well as set up alarms and receive notifications upon events. In addition, the solution will enhance the generation of useful reports using fleet summary reporting, including hours and distances flown, for maintenance and billing.
Guardian Mobility offers a full range of GPS tracking and satellite communication solutions for aircraft reporting over the Globalstar satellite network. In 2004, Guardian introduced the first portable GPS tracking device for aircraft, which helped fleet operators know the status and location of their aircraft at any given moment.
At a separate forum organized by the company for Fleet management operators recently in Lagos, Mr. Peter Bacon, a technical officer with the satellite firm noted that its flagship product, Globaltrakker has the capability of monitoring and tracking assets anywhere in the West African region as well as parts of the coastal Atlantic and Gulf of Guinea marine region.
“With Globaltrakker you can view and manage assets online through the secure, feature rich, simple to configure web application allowing you to stay in touch 24/7 through sophisticated schedule or event-driven alerting functionality delivered via e-mail or SMS,” he assured.
Globaltouch West Africa Limited is licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to offer Global Mobile Personal Communications by Satellite (GMPCS) services and has its gateway in the Northern Nigerian city of Kaduna, the first of its kind by any satellite company operating in the country.
