GTBank Ghana Rolls out MasterCard Products, Services
Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited has rolled out a range of MasterCard products and services including card issuance and ATM activation in all branches nationwide.
The bank has acquired the licence to issue MasterCard debit cards in Ghana and with this strategic alliance with the world’s leader in payment brands, GTBank MasterCard debit Cards would also be accepted for payment for goods and services, cash withdrawal and other basic banking transactions globally.
With over a million ATMs in more than 210 countries and 29.4 million Point of Sale (POS) terminals worldwide, the GTBank Debit MasterCard offers exceptional benefits, rewards, services and spending power that can help make financial decisions easy and truly convenient. It is an invaluable tool especially when making airline and hotel reservations, while eliminating the risk and inconvenience of carrying cash.
Its security features include a sophisticated, multi-level fraud monitoring system to protect card holders from fraud and data compromise by employing the use of Chip & PIN technology.
In announcing the introduction of the GTBank MasterCard services into the market, Jamiu Yusuff, general manager of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, stated that it would offer the ultimate in convenience and financial control by combining worldwide acceptance and flexibility.
He added that, “In our quest to provide alternative payment services to our customers and those who wish to do business with us, GTBank is issuing MasterCard debit cards across the country and this would be supported with a massive roll out of POS to subscribing merchants”.
Araba Ofori, Group Head of Alternative Channels of the bank assures customers and the public that, “GTBank would provide excellent customer and support service to ensure smooth operations and delivery of its MasterCard service”.
Within its relatively short period of operations, GTBank has deployed a wide network of ultra modern ATMs that offer real convenience of 24-hour accessibility at strategic locations across the country. All the ATMs accept MasterCard, Maestro, Visa and China Union Pay cards.
As a main acquirer in Ghana, GTBank would shortly follow up with the deployment of its MasterCard POS payment solution, which is ideal for hotels, restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, gas stations, clinics, schools, tourist/leisure outlets etc.
This solution helps businesses that subscribe to it improve the management of sales collection with an up-to-date balance and transaction history. Merchants would receive account statements that detail sales made, thus making reconciliation easy.
