Harris Stratex Networks has changed its name to Aviat Networks, reflecting the need to drop the Harris name now that the company has divested its share in the wireless backhaul provider.
Aviat was created three years ago as the result of the merger between the Microwave Communications Division of Harris Corporation and Stratex Networks Incorporated.
Along with the name change, the company's logo has also changed. The new company however remains the leader in advanced wireless IP network migration and is preparing the way to the 4G/LTE future.
Mr. Paul Kennard, chief technical officer of the company said the name Aviat Networks was selected to highlight the company‘s position as wireless expert in Solutions for Advanced IP Network Migration, adding that it marked a significant milestone in the evolution of the company, “as the brand embodies the company‘s commitment to quality and innovative products.”

In his contribution, Mr. Bekele Tadesse, managing director for Nigeria‘s Office, , said Aviat Network was already leading the market with a wireless backhaul solution that supported all key migration features as well as scalable capacity sufficient to support the needs of LTE networks.
He said the company‘s wireless solutions would enable the telecom operators to transform their network to solve the current capacity crunch and provide a smooth migration path to LTE.
Bekele noted that the telecoms operators needed practical and innovative solutions that could help bridge seamlessly from the legacy network of today to the network that would fuel their success in the future.
