Helios Towers has signed a Co-location agreement with Direct On PC (DOPC) for her roll out of 200 sites under Wimax network expansion plan in 2010/2011. DOPC is a Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) licensed broadband internet services provider.
Helios has over 1000 sites nationwide and will provide fully managed end-to-end co-location services to DOPC including maintenance, managed services, and so on.
The execution of the agreement marks the beginning of long-term cooperation between Helios and DOPC in the area of full telecommunications planning, network rollout and managed services to be executed in phases.

Speaking at the contract signing ceremony Mr. Azuka Ndulewe , chief marketing officer of Helios Towers said that infrastructure sharing provides practical means to improving a country’s ICT competitive landscape while providing enormous opportunity to bridge up digital divide in under-developed countries especially in their far flung areas which are traditionally characterized by huge fixed, sunk and irreversible investment, often making telecommunications infrastructure investment a high risk undertaking. Furthermore, he said that sharing of existing or new network infrastructure can promote economic efficiency, make market entrants able to compete effectively against existing infrastructure owners offering 3G or competing broadband or mobile services, and can reduce infrastructure cost and consequently the upfront investment burden.
Helios Towers makes operators more successful by providing fully managed tower sites on a lease basis, reducing capital requirement and expediting their rollout. They offer Co-location and Managed Services.
Helios Towers’ Co-location Package includes Earthed towers prepared for mounting of antennas, environmentally cooled equipment shelters, Mains AC power with 2 x standby generators, Backup DC powers( Batteries and rectifiers), 24 x7 monitoring through remote NOC,24 hours Site Security ,Site operation and maintenance, Site Insurance, 24 x 7 access for operator and Antenna installation services.
