Instig Labs, Others Partner to Build Capacity in Tech, Investment Research

A tech incubation platform, Instig Labs has teamed up with other software platforms- OpenBB and Pav Finance to train budding and intending financial analysts on investment research.

Michael Osumo, Programme Manager at Instig Labs, explained that investment research which involve studying and analysing performance of financial assets has assumed a stage where it can be done better with innovative tools, given the advancement in technology.

He explained that the programme is aimed at helping financial analysts conduct investment research using latest technological tools including Python and OpenBB.

He said participants will be lectured using the python curriculum that aligns with JP Morgan Chase Python training programme.

“Participants will learn how to use Python to access, manipulate, analyse and visualise financial data from various sources, such as stock prices, earnings reports, financial statements, macroeconomic indicators and more,” he said.

Founder of OpenBB, Didier Lopes said the firm is committed to democratising and making investment research accessible to everyone.

“Together with our innovative team, we have built AskOBB and OpenBB terminal into a collaborative platform for financial analysis”, he said.

Also, Quant Researcher & Strategist at PAV Finance, Kalu Arunsi urged increasing impact of data and technology on finance.

“With useful data, as well as the techniques and technology to analyse them, we can achieve amazing results in terms of accurate insights that will guide our financial decisions,” he said.

A facilitator at the programme, Paul Onyeka added that being equipped with digital technology skills will provide a huge advantage for operators in finance and business-related fields.
