Children’s day is all about celebrating the kids and showing them appreciation in the best ways.
This Year, Jumia Nigeria put together a plan that will not only change the way the e-commerce industry is seen but also change the way children of the next generation think about the Tech industry with a children’s day theme ‘Empowering the next generation of Tech’.
The Idea, according to Jumia, is to empower the upcoming generation, who are the future leaders as they have are growing in the technology age.
Jumia, in pursuit of empowering children organized a career placement open day for the children of Dansol Secondary School.
The career placement open days were for the children to experience/ learn more about the tech space and see a career path towards the industry.
The students had maximum exposure as they took tours around the largest ecommerce campus in Nigeria and also engaging part in key activities/task, as it was a different day for the children.
The students had the opportunity to become Jumia CEO for a couple of hours and see the decision making process, also they spoke to Jumia customers as they took over Jumia’s customer service for an Hour.
‘We are glad to have the future leaders of the Country spending a day with us and learning more about the Ecommerce space. The truth is the future we see for Ecommerce in 10years or less also depends on the paths we pave for the next generation as they will be the ones ruling the space in the future’ stated Nicola Martin co-chief executive officer, Jumia Nigeria while speaking with the children from Dansol High School
Mercy Chukwu Student of Dansol Secondary school SS2 said, “My parents have shopped a lot for me on Jumia before now and had little or no idea about how the business was being operated. On getting here I was surprised because it is such a big fun place to work, I experienced working as a Jumia customer agent and it was the best part of my children’s day. I would love to work here in the future”.
The Students of Dansol Secondary School had a great time at Jumia learning from different teams and departments at Jumia for the whole day. The day with lots of fun, gifts and pleasantries
