Olayemi Wonuola Keri, managing director of the Edo State Information Communications & Technology Agency (ICTA) has been honoured as Nigeria’s Most Outstanding Public Sector CIO at ICT Centenary Awards organized by an ICT media group in Abuja.
The Nigeria Centenary ICT Centenary Awards 2014 was put in place to celebrate the country’s single largest achievement in the last 100 years, according to ICT Media Initiative, the organizers of the awards.
Hence, the Nigeria ICT Centenary Awards recognizes and celebrates individuals, government institutions and corporate bodies who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of ICT in Nigeria in the last 100 years.
Keri was selected as the winner of the Public Sector CIO category because of her roles in establishing the largest and most impactive ICT agency in the country.
In the citation read to honour Keri, the organizers credited her with creating the framework of ICT policy in Edo State, broadening the recognition of the values and acceptance of information technology into the public service and the establishment of the first-ever ICT Agency ( backed by law) -a critical enabler for the full delivery of e-governance in the State.
This has attracted collaborative support from International Development Agencies (IDA) and study tour from Federal and State agencies.
She was also applauded for the management and supervision of the centralized ICT structure of the state government which spans business strategy, implementation of networks, communications, infrastructure, software and the information systems that relates to all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Responding Keri dedicated the award, first, to Governor Adams Oshiomole for giving her the opportunity to serve the state government.
She also bestowed the awards to her teams for working very hard to make technology the driver of the public service in Edo State.
“This award is a testimony and rewards for the leadership of my Comrade Governor and the invaluable efforts of my team and staff to create something from nothing. The awards can only spur on to do more for ourdear state,“ an elated Keri noted.
