Konga.com on Monday made history with the unveiling of the biggest and technologically sophisticated e-commerce fulfillment and warehouse in Africa.

Konga.com, the first to introduce consumer protection fund (CPF) and 7-day return warranty under e-commerce platform, said that the historic warehouse measures 120,000 square feets about eight times larger than its premier warehouse that measured 15,000 square feets.

Speaking at the ceremony in Lagos, Alex Kamala, chief operating officer of Konga.com, said that Konga.com which launched in July 2012 is gradually becoming "the everything store" with its wide selection of products via its market place and fulfilment of Konga platforms, giving Nigerian businesses the opportunity to come online and consumers the opportunity to shop online.

According to him, within one year of operations, "Konga has laid solid foundations of a retail, technology and logistics company, building a system by which buyers and sellers can find each other, providing unprecedented levels of retail convenience, choice and customer satisfaction".

Also speaking, Onyeka Akumah, head, Marketing Konga.com, described the new distribution centre as another critical step towards the company’s vision of building a world class online retail business in Nigeria.  "The facility offers the infrastructure required for Konga to make this happen," he added.

Joseph Onuorah, vice president, Logistics for Konga.com maintained that the project was aimed at customer satisfaction.  "This is all about our customers as they are the reason why we are number one in Nigeria today.

"Logistics is the bedrock of any successful retailer and today marks a turning point in our business and for Nigeria as a whole," he said.

While conducting journalists round the warehouse, Onuorah added that with the new distribution centre Konga is demonstrating its commitment to empowering retail in Nigeria by building a company that Nigerians will be proud to use and associate with around the world.

Meanwhile, Kamala added that Konga is committed to create new jobs, introducing new skill sets and exposing Nigerians to a new way of life.

"Konga continues to create jobs, with staff strength growing from just 7 to over 400 in such a short period of time further demonstrating the levels of growth within the company," he added.

Nigeria's renowned singer, Omawumi  and Konga's brand ambassador also graced the occasion, among other members of Konga team.
