Kwara Introduces e-Vehicle Registration

The Kwara State Government has introduced electronic vehicle registration in the State in order to improve revenue generation as part of response to global meltdown.
Speaking at the event heralding the commencement of the registration at Ilorin, Alhaji Abdulfatai Ahmed, the State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, described it as a landmark in the strive to drive the system electronically.
He highlighted the advantages of registering vehicles electronically as increase revenue generation, improvement of service delivery, efficiency as well as equipment of civil servants to meet other challenges, he however warned staffs of the Board of Internal Revenue (B I R) to be computer literate in order to be relevant at their work.
“We have seen the dwindling inflow of revenue from the Federal Government. What comes from Federal allocation mostly goes to the payment of salary but Internally Generated Revenue is used for developmental projects and economic growth. We hope to double or triple revenue generations,” he said.
Earlier, Mr. Kunle Akinlade, managing director of the Lagos based consulting company, Clevlan Investment Limited, assured indegenes of the state that his company has put together a web based solution for vehicle registration in the State.
He also assured that it would eradicate fake vehicle license and yield necessary revenue to the State Government as the company would provide enhanced tools for the stakeholders like the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) to verify vehicle documents without necessarily going to their offices.
