The Lagos State Government has presented an award for Corporate Social Responsibility to Nigeria’s leading fixed telephone operator and integrated information and communications technology solutions provider, 21st Century Technologies Limited. Presenting the award in Lagos, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), Executive Governor, noted that 21st Century Technologies has proved in its investment pattern as well as job implementations to be a truly socially responsible company, hence the award.
The award was received by Wale Ajisebutu, the Chief Executive of 21st Century Technologies, who thanked Lagos State Government and in particular, the governor, for the people-oriented projects being implemented in the state.
And, as if to attest to and give firm confirmation of the recognition accorded 21st Century Technologies by the Lagos State Government, a leading bank in Nigeria, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, has presented a certificate of appreciation to the telecommunications giant for, as the bank put it “in recognition of her supportive role as a valued service provider to Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria over the past 10 years.”
The letter was signed by Mr. James Berry, Group Head, Procurement and Vendor Management as well as Mr. Christopher Knight, Country Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria. The bank’s appreciation was presented in Lagos to Mr. Ajisebutu, who acknowledged also that Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria has proved to be a responsible and responsive corporate giant in the banking industry in Nigeria.
Honour also came for 21st Century Technologies from the Lekki Peninsula Phase 1 Residents Association, an elite body of residents of the equally elitist Lekki community in Lagos, which said it was according special commendation to the telecom company “in recognition, acknowledgement and appreciation of the company’s contributions towards the development of Lekki Peninsula Phase 1, Lagos.”
The Association in a letter signed by its Chairman, Chief Kayode V. Aderinoku, stated: “The company amongst others acts of corporate social responsibility, rehabilitated the streetlights on Admiralty Way, and maintained the streetlights for a long time. Towards other activities and events of the association, the company has emerged as an outstanding donor. A good example of the company’s generosity is its donation towards the end of year merriment, which would not have been possible without the generous support of 21st Century Technologies Ltd.”
These commendations and recognition came even as 21st Century Technologies grabbed the Best Integrated ICT Solutions Provider of the Year award at the eighth edition of the high influential Nigerian Information Technology and Telecom Awards (Nitta 2009), recognition which Mr. Ajisebutu described as most vital and highly regarded by his company because of the integrity of Nitta and the high regard the industry and government have for the Nitta programme.
