A delegation led by Mr. Biodun Onayele, director general Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) were at the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Ebute Metta, Lagos to establish a working relationship between the two Agencies.
Onayele also seized the unique opportunity offered by the visit to invite the Zonal Director of the Agency to the 2015 International Archives Day celebration coming up on 9th June, 2015 as the Guest Speaker for the occasion based on the theme “Copyright: Interpreting the Law for Archives and Allied Institutions”.
In his remark while receiving the team from LASRAB, Mr. Chris Nkwocha, zonal director, NCC, expressed gratitude to the Director General and his team for the visit which was aimed at intimating the NCC about the existence of LASRAB.
He said that LASRAB has a unique role to play in the preservation of Lagos State cultural heritage and therefore commended Lagos State Government for establishing the Agency.
Responding, the Director General, LASRAB expressed delight for the warm reception accorded the LASRAB team.
He also appreciated the staff of NCC for their invaluable sacrifice in preserving intellectual properties from the onslaught of pirates.
Onayele used the opportunity of the visit to formally invite the Zonal Director and also enjoined him to use his good office to invite Copyright Stakeholders to the International Archives Day considering the relevance of the topic vis-à-vis to the activities of Archival Institutions.
