Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB), has been described as the ‘Societal Memory for the State.

Mr. Biodun Onayele, director general of LASRAB made the remark when he and some management staff of the Bureau paid a courtesy visit on Mr. Dele Balogun, executive secretary, Lagos State Films and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB), on Tuesday.

According to Mr. Onayele the visit was to sensitize the Agency on the statutory functions of the Bureau which include regulating, preserving, disseminating accurate records on the State. He added that LASRAB performs the dual roles of being a backup for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as a “one stop shop” for persons, groups and organisations needing information on Lagos State.

Mr. Dele Balogun, in his response expressed gratitude to the Director General and his team for the visit. He said LSFVCB was established to censors films produced in Nigeria in conjunction with the National Film & Video Censors Board (NFVCB), issue license to Cinemas, register all film practitioners in the State among others.

He further stated that based on the information gathered from the visit, he will avail to the Bureau of all the information and documents relating to the activities of the Board for preservation and public consultation.

The Director General thereafter presented the Executive Secretary with the Bureau’s brochure and extant circulars directing all MDAs to involve LASRAB in their activities and also deposit (two) copies of all publications (print & electronics) done with the State Government’s funds in the Bureau.

The LASRAB’s team to Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board comprise Mrs. Bolaji Olowofela, Bureau Secretary/Dir., Admin & HR, Dr. Kolawole Oseni, Head, Records & Archives, Mr. Lookman Durojaiye, Head Public Affairs Unit and Aisha Animashaun, Public Affairs Officer.
