LASU Acquires Additional Subscribed Online Databases

Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, said it has acquired three new subscribed online databases in addition to the existing 15 databases already in use by the university community.

Prof. John Obafunwa, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, made this known at a training session for academic staff on how to access the databases.

Obafunwa said, “Three newly subscribed online databases have been added to the list of over 15 databases already being accessed by members of the university community.”

The vice-chancellor, represented by Mr Lewis Akinwunmi, university Registrar said that the databases include Science Direct, Scopus and Mendeley Citation Software.

Obafunwa said that the training was an initiative toward securing an up to date journals and books to facilitate quality academic research, training and community service.

After the training of the academic staff, we may extend it to the non-academic staff.

I urge you to take full benefits of the programme to better the lots of the university,” he said.

In her remark, Mrs. Genevieve Musasa, the Customer Consultant, Science Direct, said the databases contain over 12 million peer-reviewed articles in over 2,500 peer-reviewed journals and books.

Also, Dr Adebambo Oduwole, the university librarian, said that the existing databases were being under-utilized because the academic staff were not trained on how to use them.
