The eight edition of the annual  Leadership Lecture and Role Model Awards, a one-day event organized by Leadership Watch, an  integrity non- for- profit organization for the  promotion  of democracy, good governance, human capital development, ICT education, consumer rights advocacy and sustainable development in the country will hold on November 11, 2008 at the Golden Gate Restaurants, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The lecture will explore the abundant opportunities offered by Information and Communication Technologies in the modern day global economy and make meaningful contributions towards the successful realization of President Umaru Yaradua’s Vision 20-2020 , whereas the award  is meant to  recognize role models in the society and honor them publicly with a view to imparting in the young ones the spirit of nation building.
The lecture holding under the theme: “Nigeria’s Leadership and Vision 20-2020: Imperatives of Knowledge-Driven Economy “, will be delivered by Engineer Ernest Ndukwe, Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission.
Information from Rev. (Dr.) Martins Iwuanyanwu,  founder/ president of Leadership Watch reveals that this year’s event, the eight in the series, will witness a larger participation as dignitaries across the country including   state actors, civil society practitioners, captains of industry, entrepreneurs, scholars and 400 participating members of El-Net Club drawn from partnering institutions in Lagos have all indicated their enthusiasm to attend the lecture.
The event to be chaired by Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, president of Association of Telecom Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) will bestow Role Model Awards on some notable Nigerians including Senator Uche Chukwumerije, , Professor Dora Akunyili, Mr. John Momoh, chairman / chief executive officer  Channels Television and Ambassador Segun  Olusola  who are among the special guests  of honour  on the occasion.  Chief Guest of honour is the Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
