Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation has handed out a cheque of N24.3 million to the Imo State Commissioner for Technology Development for the training of Imo State youths who are due to take the JAMB examination.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Amasike Emeronye, director general, Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation, disclosed that the motto of the foundation is enhancing education and creating wealth. He said that charity begins at home and that is why they are putting money in Imo State.
According to Mr. Emeronye,” We have come to find out that our Children do not do well in JAMB not because they are not smart, but because they are not exposed to ICT knowledge. This program will help them pass JAMB and shape their carriers in the future. We are here to commission the training of 5400 JAMBITES in the first instance to help them pass JAMB and create a carrier.
Mr. Meekam Mgbenwelu, commissioner for Technology Development responded by saying , “” I am excited and thrilled. Today, I thought of Bill Gates, who gives back to society through the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation. I cherish the unprecedented impact and amount of money committed to this project, and the focus to train our youths to score high grades. It is novel and unique, as we will engage and work closely with the local government areas.
Continuing the Commissioner said, “” We have visited some of the local governments, and the State will work with them to make technology pervasive in the State. This program will be robust. We shall report back to the Foundation the milestones covered in the application of funds, and level of proficiency acquired from the training. We shall expect a high indices of higher performance”
