Chief John Odigie- Oyegun, national chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday said the sacked heads of government agencies and parastatals were saboteurs.
The APC chairman, who led some leaders of the party to the Presidential Villa to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari, said the party was not concerned about the positions but about the internal sabotage going on in some of the agencies.
The sacked chief executives were appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
They included the Chief Executives of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Voice of Nigeria (VON), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), and the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
The affected chief executives are directors-general of NTA, Mr. Sola Omole; FRCN, Mr. Ladan Salihu; VON, Mr Sam Worlu; NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri; NBC, Mr. Emeka Mba; and managing director of NAN, Mr. Ima Niboro.
It would be recalled that the Presidency had on Monday announced the sack of chief executives and heads of 26 Federal Government agencies, via a statement by Babachir David Lawal, secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Oyegun, while speaking with State House correspondents and specifically responding to question on the essence of the sack said: “We are concerned about the internal sabotage that is going on in a lot of the PDP filled positions which are critical to our national growth and development. “It is happening in INEC, it is happening in a lot of other institutions and that is what the concern of the party is, not necessarily taking over.
“We should take over and they should be people who believe in the change agenda, we have no apologies for that at all.”
Asked when appointments would be made to replace those sacked, Oyegun said that the matter was at the discretion of the President.
“We just came to pay our respect to our President, and praised him on things that are going. We raised our concerns on one or two issues and altogether we had a very pleasant and rewarding meeting,” he added.
