Med-View Steps Up Operation with B737-800

Med-View Airline, one of the fastest growing Nigerian carriers has enhanced its operational capacity with a delivery of Boeing 737-800 at the weekend.

Alhaji Muneer Bankole, managing director of the airline, had at a briefing last December told media men that the airline was expecting to take delivery of the B737-800 to boost its operations.

According to Nigerian Aviation News, Bankole hinted that: “We intend to commence international operations to some of the routes in the 1st Quarter of 2014. Knowing the drawbacks of flying from point to point in international operations, Med-View has entered into negotiations with some carriers on code-share arrangement”.

In an answer to a question at the briefing then on its planned foray into international and regional operations,  Bankole said that the airline was already shopping for appropriate aircraft that would suit different long and medium routes such as Enugu-Singapore, Lagos-Dubai; Kano-Jeddah.

For the Jeddah operations which the airline planned to start shortly, the MD added that the airline would be using Boeing737-800 to kick-start the operation while B767-300ER which has 14hours flight endurance and B777 are on the shopping list for the long-haul operations.

Though the airline began local operation a year ago with two aircraft, but today it has a total of four with the delivery of the 4th plane, a Boeing737-400 in the third week of December, 2013.
