Motorola Shows off its Moto X Smartphone

Google’s Motorola Mobility has finally launched its long expected Moto X smartphone — the first model designed from scratch since Google bought the company.

The company is also making a lot of fuss about the fact that it is assembled in the USA. American consumers can also order customised models and have them shipped to them within 4 days.

Alternatively, standard models will be sold in retail stores.

The product announcement from the company was in fact exceptionally heavy on how this is a USA assembled phone, and very light on any actual technical details of the handset itself.

It is unsurprisingly an Android based device, and comes with a 4.7-inch screen that also has a range of gesture recognition facilities. There is a dual-core processor. The Motorola website just points people towards a sign-up page.

They are presumably hoping that customers will want the phone because it is made in the USA, regardless of its actual abilities.

The Moto X will be available in the USA, Canada and Latin America starting in late August/early September. Retail pricing with the US networks will be $200 with a new contract.
