The MTN Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of MTN Nigeria has expressed concerns over the nation’s insecurity.
The foundation emphasized that security of life and property was critical to the growth and development of the country and could not be left for government alone.
Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, former minister of Health and a director in the Foundation, , stated this in Ado-Ekiti yesterday during the presentation of five fully-equipped and branded security patrol vehicles to the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.
“We are here to show our support for the state. We are aware of the security threat through out the nation. We have tried to make provisions to facilitate the work of security agencies,” he said.
Mr. Akinwale Goodluck, MTN Corporate Services Executive, said the donation came under the MTN Foundation Security Support Project to support government’s efforts to improve security operations across the country.
According to him, the foundation has provided 115 fully-equipped security patrol vehicles with communication gadgets to 18 State Governments and the Federal Capital Territory.
He said the foundation had invested N10bn in executing various projects in 341 locations across the 36 states of Nigeria and the FCT.
Fayose thanked the foundation for the support, saying “the intervention will enhance security and add value to development in the state.”
