Mr. Vincent Raseroka, acting chief executive officer, Multi-Links Telkom, has admonished the female students of the University of Lagos to avail themselves of the boundless opportunities around them by remaining disciplined and focused on their ambition in order to achieve their ultimate goal of a fulfilling career after their academic pursuits.
Vincent made this remark on Thursday, at the headquarters of Multi-Links Telkom, Lagos, during a reception for twenty final year female students of various disciplines from the university who were hosted by the company in its partnership with the South African government’s Take A Girl Student to Work Day project. The Take A Girl Student to Work Day is part of the annual celebration of Women Day by the South African government.
The acting CEO who received the female students in the company of Ms. Thandi Mgxwati, deputy high Ccommissioner, South African High Commission, represented by Mr. Lungile G. Tawe,  first secretary political, and other management Staff of Multi-Links Telkom urged the students to imbibe self discipline as a core value in whatever they are doing.
He urged them to seize the opportunity of the one-day at the work place experience at Multi-Links Telkom as an opportunity to tune their minds to the realities of the opportunities that they could avail themselves as a learning curve in their post academic years.
According to him, the student could make the most of the opportunities presented by the experience shared with the various units of the key officials of Multi-Links Telkom as a turning point for shaping the future in their pursuits in life.
While noting that discipline and hard work have their rewards, he assured the female students that they have equal opportunities to best their male counterparts in the work place and enjoy the enormous incentives available for excellent achievers in the work place.
As part of the mentoring and skills development for the female students, two of the students worked directly with the acting CEO, while the rest worked in other units of Multi-Links Telkom: Sales and Marketing, Finance, Technical, Information Systems, Legal and International Carrier Services.
The Human Resources Division also appraised the students of career counseling as part of preparing the students for the realities of the career development initiative for the one-day programme.
In her welcome speech, Mrs. Ijeoma Abazie, chief corporate affairs officer, Multi-Links Telkom, said that the Multi-Links Telkom collaborated with the South African High Commission on this project because of its commitment to enhancing skills development of the productive sector of the Nigerian nation.
She said that Multi-Links Telkom as an equal opportunity employer has a number of female employees who are well placed and are doing well in their own rights within the organization.

The CCAO told the students that they could learn so much within the short time of the project to effectively position them for a worthwhile post graduation experience after their various academic programmes.
